10th to 14th March
The Arab Irish Chamber of Commerce is delighted to be one of the main sponsors of the 4th Silk Road Film Festival (SRFF) 2016.
The 4th Silk Road Film Festival 2016 will take place from 10th to 14th March across the city of Dublin. The SRFF brings a variety of films to the audience, rich in diversity of features, documentaries, animations, shorts and student films. Apart from film screenings, the SRFF features exhibitions, chats with industry guests, and seminars.
Centuries ago people from the West embarked on a journey that discovered silk cloth and also introduced them to the people living along those routes. Fascinated by these encounters, they brought these cultures back home through the exotic fabrics as well as through their philosophical and religious beliefs.
The Silk Road Film Festival celebrates cinema, culture and art, presenting films from countries which were once part of the historical network of the Silk Road ancient trade routes with a strong focus on Arab and Middle Eastern cinema. There are a number of award winning Arabic films screening at the festival this year.
This year’s SRFF will help to create dialogue and increase multicultural awareness through the medium of film. The festival brings together filmmakers and creators from countries along the road to introduce their cultures and traditions through their films and carry out the Silk Road legacy of sharing and exchange.
